The Best Hot Chocolate Mix

This Recipe Wednesday is my favorite treat during the holidays. Hot Cocoa! And nobody makes it better than my Grandma Jean with her famous Hot Chocolate Mix. I remember having a big container always full of mix growing up, and the smell brings back fond memories of my farm townhome. I would say my opinion of this mix is biased but we’ve given it to many of our friends and they love it as well! Last year she and I created her own cookbook and this is the very first recipe in the book. You can purchase it here, or if you live in Royal you can get one from my mom.

These are all the ingredients! The Instant Dry Milk bag I bought was much more than I needed (food storage baby!) but you can get a 25.6 oz. bag for about $8 instead of $14 for the 64 oz. So all the ingredients come to a total of $27.74 and it makes 90+ cups of hot chocolate! I usually put 3-4 spoonfuls for a small mug.

Hot Cocoa Mix

As easy as throwing it together in a container but tastes divine. The best hot cocoa mix you’ll find that has been used for years by our family!

Recipe Notes

You need about 3-4 spoonfuls for a standard sized mug.

A couple tips: This recipe makes a lot of servings, last year I halved the recipe and it was easier to make. I think next time I make it I’ll pour a little of each ingredient to help make the mixing much easier. I actually think it would be super cute to add the layers in a mason jar for a gift! This cocoa mix is the perfect gift for friends and family, and still enough leftovers for yourself!

Now go make yourself some cocoa! Tell me what you think, and I want to know how early is too early when it comes to listening to Christmas music? Because I’ve already broken that rule and it isn’t even Halloween!
